Drifting Embers is PETRU’s latest release: a hypnotic, mysterious techno journey into the night, capturing the moment we become night creatures, unleashing our untamed spirit as dusk settles, evoking fleeting bursts of light breaking away from the flames, racing into the open night.
Driving acid lines and grounding bass, the main title brings confidence to the dancefloor while 90s-inspired chords trigger raver’s trance-like state balancing darkness with playfulness.
On remix duty, techno veteran Alexander Kowalski delivers a fresh, dark but hopeful rework rich in texture and dynamic tension; while Ross Harper flips the energy with a playful, 909-driven remix that infuses the track with happy-crazy vibes and infectious rhythms.
Closing the EP, Prelude to Embers offers a cinematic, atmospheric journey perfect for reflection, while Drone to Embers provides a meditative soundscape for deep introspection.

– “PETRU KSS beweist damit, dass er keine Angst vor den rauen, schmutzigen Ecken des Genres hat. Ganz im Gegenteil: Er macht sie zur Bühne. Mediocracy EP ist mal überhaupt nicht hier, um nett zu sein. Sie ist hier, um deine Synapsen zu zerlegen und neu zu verkabeln. Der titelgebende Track, in seiner Originalversion wie auch im alternativen Mix, stürzt sich in dissonante Synthwellen und peitschende Grooves – ein rhythmisches Wühlen im technoiden Unterbewusstsein. Die Remixsektion bringt zwei sehr unterschiedliche, aber gleichermaßen faszinierende Perspektiven. ØLMØ schraubt die Spannung mit polymetrischen Sequenzen und einer Prise Körnigkeit hoch – hypnotisch, verwirrend, fast wie eine meditative Panikattacke. Sethi One hingegen führt uns in eine dystopische Maschine, wo Dröhnen, Knarzen und spontane Strukturen ein klangliches Paralleluniversum bauen. Beide Remixe liefern genau das, was gute Remixe tun sollten: neue Interpretationen, kein simples Aufpolieren.“
